CHAT GPT: Business in the Front, Party in the Back

The AI program that has been on everybody’s mind of late is Open AI’s writing software, Chat GPT.

In the classroom, it's no exaggeration to say that educators are already rethinking the way they do assignments. With a simple prompt like "Write an A+ five-page essay about Napoleon Bonaparte's most important military campaign," you can have a quality essay whipped up in a matter of seconds. It’s no exaggeration to say that the landscape of education suddenly looks very different. It’s like a different universe than when I was in high school, burning the midnight oil, churning out essays.

But AI isn’t just for writing essays. I have two main Categories in my exploration of Chat GPT.  Work and Play.  For Work related categories — business emails, blog entries, articles — Chat GPT is surprisingly effective. Look above at this response from my prompt: “What are some good newsletter topics for a video production company?”

When I looked over these ideas, I thought to myself. “Hmm. These are all ideas that people with years of experience in the video field would think of coming up with. Yep, they would all work.” It’s actually quite a profound thing, the ability of a computer to generate this. There may be some weaknesses in terms of specifics

That said, Chat GPT still has a long way to go when it comes to creativity. This is my Play category. When I asked it to write a two-line chorus in the style of Radiohead, I got a response that was...well, let's just say it was no "Fake Plastic Trees." Check it out in the image above. 

Yikes. Perhaps one of the worst couplets in the history of the written word. But it’s easy to make fun of a computer. Still, the fact that it even tried to be creative is pretty amazing. Chat GPT has changed the way we do things, from writing essays to generating content ideas. Strap in, the future will be very interesting.
